This top is not black, and that is the point. It is a mottled brown sintered stone that looks like oxidised bronze, with darker clouds and soft rust-coloured passages, edged in a deep bronze band. In a dark room it glows slightly against leather.
The base is a single tapering block in black-stained timber, wider at the foot than at the top, almost a truncated pyramid. It is deep enough to hide scuffs and strong enough to carry a full dining service. With no legs at the corners, a four-top has no obstacles for knees.
Construction
- Sintered-stone top, mottled oxidised-bronze brown
- Deep bronze metal edge
- Tapering black-stained timber base
- Floor glides
It works as a dining table in a bar that uses a lot of black, such as a speakeasy or a cigar lounge, and gives the room a second tone beside black marble tops. Order it with cognac or oxblood banquettes.
