The rear view tells you how this sofa is put together. A thick, rounded roll of cognac leather runs across the top of the back and curves forward around both ends to become the arms. Below it the body is plain black leather, made in panels with vertical seams, and the whole sofa sits low on short black block feet.
That two-band layout is useful in a bar. The cognac roll is where hands and shoulders rest, and its warm colour shows wear as patina. The black body, which takes kicks from shoes and chair legs, hides scuffs.
Construction
- Hardwood and plywood frame with a shaped top rail for the roll
- HR foam and fibre wrap; the roll is filled for a firm, rounded edge
- Two protected leathers, cognac and black, or any pairing you choose
- Block feet with glides
Seat layout, inside back and cushion style are confirmed on the shop drawing; the design can be made as a two- or three-seater and as a matching single tub chair.
Where it works
Floating in the middle of a lounge with its back to the room, against a low wall, or in a pair facing each other across a cocktail table.
