A kidney sofa is a long seat with a concave front, so guests at either end naturally turn toward each other. In this version the back is a single low roll that starts at one end, follows the curve and turns forward to close the other end as a rounded arm. The opposite end is left open, which makes the sofa easy to get into from the side.
The seat is deep and smooth, piped along the front edge, with no loose cushions to tidy at closing time. A dark plinth is set back under the seat so the sofa appears to float.
