Most bar sofas are chosen for the front and then lived with from behind. When a settee floats in the middle of a lounge, half the room sees its outer shell, so this design is worth showing from the rear. A black leather roll, stitched in vertical channels, runs across the top of the back and wraps forward into both arms. Below it the body is a single smooth panel of brown leather with rounded corners, finished with a line of nailheads along the seam and, on the three-seat version, a slim black band at the base.
The same profile is made as a settee and as a single club armchair, so two chairs and one settee can face each other across a low table and read as a set.
Construction
- Kiln-dried hardwood and plywood frame, glued and screwed at arm and rail joints
- Sinuous springs under high-resilience foam with a soft fibre wrap
- Two leathers: black for the roll, brown or cognac for the body; protected or semi-aniline hides recommended for bar service
- Black tapered hardwood legs with floor glides
Front details, seat cushion style and exact proportions are fixed on the shop drawing before anything is cut. Add drum side tables so each end has a place for a glass.
