A black-and-white graphic fabric is a strong move in a dark bar: one or two of these chairs in a room of leather gives the eye somewhere to land. The fabric is a textured bouclé-style weave with an irregular black lattice on an off-white ground.
Frame shapes shown
- Club chair with three vertical back channels, three bun-shaped seat channels and flat block arms that run down to the floor
- Armless slipper chair with a square, inclined back on splayed walnut V-legs
- Slipper chair with a rounded back on a black turned-wood frame, with a single T-shaped arm on one side
Each frame is fully upholstered in the same fabric, so they can be mixed in a group.
Construction
- Hardwood and plywood frames, solid hardwood legs and frames where exposed
- HR foam with a fibre wrap
- Contract bouclé-look weave; a tighter weave is recommended for busy floors because looped bouclé can snag on rings and bag clasps
Where it works
Lobby bars, listening bars, cafés that turn into bars at night, and private dining rooms that need one memorable detail. Any of the shapes can also be made in leather or plain velvet if the pattern is too much for the whole room.
