The Nightcap uses an exposed frame. Four tapered posts in black-stained solid wood are joined by side rails, and the leather seat and back sit inside them. The back is one upholstered panel that rolls over at the top into a soft cushion for the head. On each side, a triangular panel of grey bouclé is slung between the frame and the back. It adds texture against the smooth black leather and keeps the sides open, so the chair looks lighter than a fully upholstered club chair.
The seat is wide and low, with room to sit sideways, which is how people actually use lounge chairs at a bar.
Construction
- Solid hardwood frame, black stain, glued and dowelled joints
- Upholstered seat and back panels over high-resilience foam
- Black leather shown with grey bouclé side panels; any leather, vinyl or COM/COL
- Floor glides on all four posts
It suits cigar lounges and whiskey rooms where the furniture should look crafted rather than overstuffed. Set two at an angle to a low table, or use it to break up a long banquette wall.
