A sling seat is one piece of leather stretched between two rails. Guests sink into it a little and it shapes to them, with no cushion to flatten over time. On this chair the tan leather sling runs from the front rail back to the frame. A fat leather bolster spans the full width at the top, fixed to the back posts with small brass brackets. A loose lumbar pillow fills the gap between them; it is shown in grey fabric and can be changed to suit the room.
The frame is solid timber stained black, with square posts and wide flat arms. The arms are good for resting a glass on, which is a practical point in a lounge with few side tables.
Construction
- Solid hardwood frame, black stain
- Heavy leather sling seat, tensioned and fixed to concealed rails
- Leather-covered bolster on brass brackets
- Loose lumbar pillow, any fabric or leather
Use it in cigar lounges, library bars and hotel lounges where the look is relaxed and a little 1960s. On the sling we recommend a heavier, full-grain or pull-up leather, because it ages well where hands and backs rub.
