Think of the chair beside the fire in an old library bar. The back is taller than a club chair's and flares outward at the top corners, a softened wing that frames the sitter without closing them in. Deep diamond buttoning covers the whole inside back.
The arms roll outward into scrolls, and each scroll front is outlined with a row of large antique-brass nailheads. A loose seat cushion sits on a firm platform, and the chair stands on turned dark wood front legs and plain splayed back legs.

The taller back makes this chair a good partner for lower club chairs and Chesterfield sofas, giving a lounge group some variation in height. The matching two-seat loveseat is built on the same profile.
